JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – An electrifying fight has been added to the stacked EFC 98 card which takes place in Johannesburg on the 6th of October and is headlined by the Heavyweight title fight between Matunga Djikasa and Vandam Mbuyi. Stefan ‘Mr Kick’ Pretorius makes his welcome return to the Hexagon to face a determined former foe, Khulekani ‘Cold Steel’ Hlongwa who is plainly out for revenge. Both athletes have a collective 17 appearances in the EFC in a Middleweight division that is brimming with some of the best talent on the roster. Desperately seeking title contention, both athletes are coming off a loss to fellow main card fighter, Diego Bandu though it is undoubtedly Hlongwa who remains the more aggrieved after losing to Pretorius at EFC 79 by way of spectacular first-round knock-out and is now hunting for his fourth EFC win with all three previous victories being spectacular finishes.
EFC Matchmaker Graeme Cartmell – “This bout feels like a dam building-up waiting to burst. We’ve had so many incredible fights from both these lads in the EFC, and they’re now at a place in their careers where they need to flood forth and just go hell-for-leather. It’s the choice to either be a journeyman or to fly high, they need to decide when they stare at each other from across the Hex on the 6th of October, who they’re going to be after this fight.”
The addition of this 185lb war is one of the last to be added to a card that will have fight fans glued to their seats throughout the world of combat sports, so be sure to keep a look-out for more EFC 89 news coming soon!
