Johannesburg, South Africa – EFC 96 is set to be an electrifying event with so much in store for fight fans as the EFC moves back to Thursdays with 11 bouts set to take place.
This card will feature several athletes making their promotional debuts giving a lot of the divisional ladders fresh blood and hungry talent to shake things up. The event will also feature fighters representing a wide variety of nations, making this a truly intercontinental affair.
On Monday, August 8th, there was a special pre-event press conference which featured the fighters of the main card as they got to speak to and face-off with their opponent for the very first time.
With EFC Bantamweight Champion, Cameron Saaiman, out of the championship picture temporarily due to his excursion to the UFC, this leaves room for an interim champion. The stakes are now raised for the co-main event bout between Brazil’s Gian ‘Patolino’ Souza and Zimbabwe’s Nicholas Hwende which is now set to be for the Interim Bantamweight title.
The main event will witness Luthando ‘Shorty’ Biko’s first defence of his EFC Flyweight belt. Standing across from him will be Magno ‘Popeye’ Alves, who having just won a performance bonus for an electrifying KO in his last outing, looks to continue building upon the momentum and go straight for 125lb gold.
With titles and patriotism on the line, the stakes are higher than ever in two of the best intercontinental clashes on the MMA planet at EFC 96.
