Johannesburg, South Africa – EFC 95 is set to go down tomorrow!
Although there were a few fighters who disappointedly missed weight, everyone passed their medicals and were cleared for competition. This means that the EFC 95 card remains intact with eleven electrifying bouts.
A high level of intensity was witnessed as most of the fighters came face-to-face with their opponents for the very first time. Robert ‘The Black Tiger’ Simbowe, backed by vocal supporters in attendance, even presented his opponent, Given Majuba, with a gift ahead of their clash tomorrow.
The co-main event face-off shifted the intensity into high gear as HP ‘Tropical’ van Staden and Peace ‘X’ Nguphane got into each other’s faces. Nguphane took his time on the mic to remind van Staden that “the cage is a jungle and it is no place like the tropical island” whilst ‘Tropical’ chose to save his words for the Hex.
The main event faceoff was one that many were looking forward to, especially following the events that took place at the EFC 95 Pre-Event Press Conference on Thursday, 14 July. The stark difference between the two championship contenders is always an intriguing one to African fight fans. Igeu ‘Smiley’ Kabesa, who has proven himself in the organisation time and again, and Nerik ‘The Beast’ Simoes, who has an incredible ability to explode in the Hex whenever necessary, seemed to be a contrast to many. Kabesa still believes that he is the ‘King’ of the Featherweights but Simoes is ready to make that title his own. As they faced off one final time before their showdown tomorrow, it was clear that they were locked and loaded with only the prospect of being adorned with the 145lb gold on their minds.
In just a day’s time, the stage will be set and EFC 95 will kick off the second half of the year for African combat sports in exciting fashion!
