Johannesburg, South Africa – The EFC 93 ceremonial weigh-ins took place on Friday morning at the EFC Performance Institute in Johannesburg ahead of the EFC’s second showing of the year.
The 10-fight card remained intact as all fighters passed their medicals with just one fighter failing to make weight.
The showdowns at the scale displayed the tremendous amount of respect some fighters had for each other whilst others chose to use that time to say a few last words to their opponents.
The co-main event final face-off between Igeu Kabesa and Ashley Calvert, although intense, remained respectful. In their post weigh-in speeches, both fighters were extremely confident of victory heading into the fight.
By contrast, the main event face-off between Martin van Staden and Ziko Makengele saw the two welterweights immediately getting into an intense back and forth. The two had blistering words for each other and had to be separated with just one day left before they collide for divisional gold.
