Cape Town, South Africa – EFC continues to raise the bar with sport and entertainment broadcasting on South African television. The first event of 2019, EFC 77, had over 1.19 million fans tuning in to SABC 3 to watch the broadcast of the live event on 16 March.
This figure excludes all the fans that watched live on SuperSport (as no audience data is available for SS11 yet), making the actual number of viewers watching EFC 77 much higher. Furthermore this excludes all other TV channels in Africa and across the globe.
In only the first few weeks of broadcasting on SABC and SuperSport, EFC has already exceeded 2.59 million unique viewers in South Africa (this figure excludes the majority of the SuperSport viewers that are watching on SS11, so the actual viewership is even higher).
“These are awesome stats,” stated EFC President Cairo Howarth. “These ratings confirm that EFC is on track to become the second most watched sport on the African continent. We look forward to more huge growth this year.”
EFC is rolling out a massive African TV broadcast expansion, and is now, for the first time, broadcasting weekly on SABC 3 and daily on SuperSport, as well as weekly on the largest free-to-air TV networks in every country across the continent.
With these new TV channels all broadcasting EFC every week, it is likely that in 2019 EFC will be the most watched African sport and entertainment property outside of football.
This is massive promotion for the sport, EFC partners, athletes, gyms and associated brands.
With EFC 78 taking place this Saturday, plus TF2 soon to be on air, EFC can look forward to audience numbers continuing to grow significantly.
All eyes now turn to EFC 78 Buys vs Biko, Zulu vs Hadley is presented by Restonic Mattresses and takes place on Saturday 13 April live from GrandWest, Cape Town. Tickets are on sale at www.computicket.com. Full broadcast details available at www.efcworldwide.com.
