Cape Town, South Africa – Tumisang Madiba’s South African Institute for Drug-Free Sports (SAIDS) suspension has concluded. He is now eligible to return to action inside the EFC Hexagon and heads straight into action against Cape Town favourite Faeez Jacobs.
After his ‘Fight of the Night’ bout against Irshaad Sayed, Madiba tested positive for Carboxy-THC, otherwise known as Cannabis, a prohibited in-competition substance under SAIDS and The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). He was suspended from competition for 12 months.
Having returned to Johannesburg and training out of TapOut Academy, he is fired-up and to reinstate himself at the top of the division.
“Man, it feels so good to be back! I’m ready to hit the road and get ‘The Presidential Campaign’ in full swing,” Madiba explained. “I got a host of names I need to tick off, the bantamweight division better be on red alert.”
Madiba will make his official return to action on 11 August at EFC 72.
It was announced by EFC VP of Talent, Graeme Cartmell that he will face Cape Town favourite Faeez Jacobs in his first returning bout: “Just confirmed! The ‘Trouble Maker’ has put a hit out on ‘The President’! A pure “DAMN THAT’S FIRE” matchup heading to Cape Town.”
A Cape Town local, Jacobs, lives, trains and represents the coastal city to the world. Charismatic, The Fighterz Inc. athlete has truly made a name for himself as a star in EFC, and continues to gain more acclaim with every appearance.
Both men are renowned for their aggressive entertaining styles, added to larger than life personalities that parallel in the Hexagon. From backflips to flying kicks, this fight is a definite front-runner for ‘Fight of the Night’.
This highly anticipated bout joins the Cape Town five-fight main card ahead of the EFC lightweight title match-up between the champion Martin van Staden and USA’s Dave Mazany.
EFC 72 Van Staden vs Mazany is presented by Betxchange.com and takes place on Saturday 11 August live from GrandWest, Cape Town. Tickets are on sale at computicket.com, and the 5 main card bouts will be broadcast live on Kwesé Free Sports 1 (Kenya & Rwanda), Kwese TV (Sub-Saharan Africa) and live in South Africa on SABC 3 starting at 21:30 (CAT).
