Johannesburg (South Africa) – US born all round MMA athlete Jonny Fields has signed with EFC AFRICA in the middleweight division.
Fields is a fighter hailing from Kenton, Ohio, with huge experience in US MMA. Just having relocated to South Africa and attaining citizenship Fields is currently training out of the Smith’s boxing gym after a chance meeting with Adam Speechly put him on the radar of EFC AFRICA.
“I saw a guy in sprawl shorts at the hospital,” says Fields. “I couldn’t mistake those cauliflower ears. Adam and I got to talking and I went for a session at Smiths.”
“Everyone at Smiths were blown away by his talent,” says Speechly. “He’s going to add to a stacked division. It’s very exciting.”
EFC AFRICA has a policy of only contracting African nationals (living in Africa or abroad) but makes exceptions for non-Africans who relocate to the continent to grow and enrich African MMA.
Fields has a pro record of 3-5 and has trained with the likes of Brian Rogers and Chris Lozano.
