The weigh-ins for EFC AFRICA 09 are in the history, and record books, the later for the single largest turnout of fans, fighters and media ever recorded at a MMA event on the African continent. Plus thousands more watched the weigh-in live online. EFC AFRICA has opened the weigh-in doors to the general public and the results were electrifying.

The hundreds of fans in attendance shouted, whistled and cheered for their favourite fighters and to say the atmosphere was completely charged with excitement and anticipation would be the understatement of the year.

There were the expected close quarters stare downs with some fighters using the close proximity to mutter a few words of enticement to their opponents but nothing compared to the face off between reigning Heavyweight Champion Norman “Chef” Wessels and challenger Ruan Potts. Wessels put his forehead against Ruan’s, locked eyes and began to push Potts backwards. Potts refused to be outdone, smirked and pushed back until Cairo Howarth (EFC AFRICA president) separated them.

If the weigh-ins are anything to go by tomorrow’s event is going to surpass anything this continent has ever seen. The fighters are ready, the organisers prepared and the fans nuclear.
